Biography

Ernst Ingmar Bergman was born into a family of distinction, the son of a priest. His prestigious family history was depicted in The Best Intentions (1992), a biographical film which showed the early marriage of his parents, as well as Sunday's Children (1992) which depicted his bicycle journey with his father. Private Confessions (1996) is the trilogy which closes the story of his family. All three movies are not always full true biographical stories. His career began early with a puppet theatre, which he, his sister, and their friends played with. As a manager, he wrote his first play in 1941, titled 'Kaspers död', which was produced that same year. This work was recognized by Stina Bergman (not a close relative) from the company S.F. (Swedish Filmindustry), who saw the play and thought it was suitable for the movies. Ernst Ingmar Bergman was a man of great influence and talent, and his works have undoubtedly left a lasting impression.
