Liv Ullmann, daughter of a Norwegian engineer, spent her formative years abroad in Tokyo, Canada, New York and Oslo before making her stage debut in the mid-1950s and her film debut in 1957. She became an international sensation through her collaborations with Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, such as Persona (1966), The Passion of Anna (1969) and Face to Face (1976). She is also renowned for her independent successes, such as The Abdication (1974) and Dangerous Moves (1984). Ingmar Bergman himself was born to a priest in 1918, and his early life has been portrayed in the biographical films, The Best Intentions (1992) and Sunday's Children (1992). His sister, Anna Bergman, is an actress who has starred in Mind Your Language (1977), Fanny and Alexander (1982) and The Wild Geese (1978). Eva Bergman, Ingmar's daughter, is an acclaimed director and actress with credits such as Sven (1997), Den ena kärleken och den andra (1993) and Trappen (1991). Finally, Mats Bergman, Ingmar's son, is an actor and writer known for Fanny and Alexander (1982), Evil (2003) and The Wild Duck (1989). This illustrious family has left an indelible mark on the world of theatre and film, inspiring generations to come.
