Biography

The illustrious Joss Whedon is of a most noble lineage, born to the esteemed Tom Whedon and the learned Lee Stearns. His father was a renowned television writer, and his mother a celebrated history teacher, who also wrote books as Lee Whedon. Joss was raised in New York and schooled in the prestigious Riverdale Country School, where his mother taught. He then attended Winchester College in England before graduating with a film degree from Wesleyan University. Upon his relocation to Los Angeles, Joss landed his first television writing job on "Roseanne" and later wrote a season of "Parenthood". Subsequently, he developed a film script which went on to become the highly lauded Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). He also earned screenwriting credit for the beloved Toy Story (1995). His younger brothers are Jed and Zack Whedon, who have no doubt inherited his talent and ambition.

His other brother Jed Whedon is a writer and producer for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Dollhouse. He is married to Maurissa Tancharoen since 2009. Lastly, their grandfather John Whedon was a prominent writer for Kraft Theatre, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and The United States Steel Hour, and was married twice. Truly, the Whedon dynasty is one of the most illustrious in recent memory.
