Family Tree

From the humble beginnings of St. Louis, Missouri, the Kilpatrick family has risen to the highest echelons of fame and nobility. Patriarch Lincoln Kilpatrick was born on February 12, 1932 and was encouraged to pursue an acting career by the legendary blues singer Billie Holiday, who saw his potential. Kilpatrick earned a degree in drama from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, and got his first big break acting alongside Sidney Poitier in the hit Broadway play "A Raisin in the Sun." His illustrious career continued with performances in numerous stage plays such as "Blues for Mr. Charlie," "The Slave," "Hallelujah Baby!," "Take a Giant Step," and "The Black" (he acted alongside Cicely Tyson and Louis Gossett Jr. in this latter play). His success was not limited to the stage; Lincoln also made his film debut with the hit movie "New Jack City" (1991). His children have since followed in his footsteps and achieved their own successes. Dacarla Kilpatrick is known for her work in "The White Shadow" (1978), "Rise and Shine" (1981) and "The Mudman" (2011), while Erik Kilpatrick has appeared in "New Jack City" (1991), "Dead Again" (1991) and "Dolemite Is My Name" (2019). Jozella Reed is known for her roles in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" (2005), "Woman Thou Art Loosed" (2004) and "Heaven Ain't Hard to Find" (2010). From the success of their forefather to the continued excellence of the Kilpatrick family, their legacy is sure to live on for generations to come.
