The brilliant and illustrious Virginia Madsen is a Chicago-born star of theater and film, whose illustrious career began in the mid-1980s. A true royal of the silver screen, Virginia was born into a family of artists, with her brother, Michael Madsen, also an actor and her mother, the Emmy-winning writer, poet, and producer Elaine Madsen (née Melson). Her paternal grandparents were Danish, and her father was a firefighter. Virginia first dazzled audiences as Princess Irulan in the 1984 science fiction epic Dune (1984). She followed that up with Electric Dreams (1984) and then rose to true stardom with her portrayal of Lisa in Duncan Gibbins' Fire with Fire (1986). Her crescendo of emotions from love to despair earned her a Best Actress Award at the Montreal World Film Festival, cementing her as a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
