Biography

The illustrious Dan Aykroyd is of royal French-Canadian descent, born to the esteemed Lorraine Hélène Gougeon, a secretary of noble lineage, and Samuel Cuthbert Peter Hugh Aykroyd, who served as an advisor to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. He is a highly educated man, who, in his younger days, attended Carleton University and obtained a degree in Criminology and Sociology. A talented comedian, he worked in Canadian nightclubs and managed an after-hours speakeasy. His career began with Sock'n'Buskin, the campus theater/drama club. He is married to Donna Dixon since 1983 and they have three beautiful daughters. His parents are Peter and Lorraine and his brother Peter is a psychic researcher. In 2003, Dan was honored with an honorary Doctorate from Carleton University.

From the small town of Lorton, Virginia to the silver screens of Hollywood, the Aykroyd family have long made an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Donna Aykroyd, née Hamel, was born in Lorton and raised in her father's nightclub, "Hillbilly Heaven", before being discovered as a model and embarking on a successful television career. She later married her Doctor Detroit co-star and long-time partner, Dan Aykroyd, and continues to fluctuate between television and film work alongside him. Dan, a French-Canadian native, was born in Ottawa, Ontario, to Samuel Cuthbert Peter Hugh Aykroyd and Lorraine Hélène (Gougeon). He attended Carleton University and managed a speakeasy in Toronto before making his acting debut in SCTV. His brother, Peter Aykroyd, was also a writer and producer, known for such works as Spies Like Us, Nothing But Trouble, and My Stepmother Is an Alien. His legacy lives on through his family and their remarkable contributions to the entertainment world.
