Adrienne Jo Barbeau, born June 11, 1945, is an esteemed actress and author known for her roles in the sitcom Maude (1972) and horror films, many of which were directed by her former husband, John Carpenter. Her son, Cody Carpenter, is a third generation musician and composer and has contributed music to two of his father's films. John Howard Carpenter, the patriarch of the family, was born in Carthage, New York and moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky, where he attended Western Kentucky University and went on to win an Academy Award for Best Live-Action Short Subject in 1970. John formed a band in the mid-1970s called The Coupe de Villes, and his musical experimentation has been a lasting influence on the family. The Carpenter family is an American success story, one that continues to inspire and amaze.
