Family Tree

Argentina Brunetti and Mimi Aguglia were two powerhouses of show business royalty. Argentina, born in Buenos Aires in 1907, began her career at the age of three with a walk-on role in the opera "Cavelaria Rusticana" and followed in her famous mother's footsteps in the theater, performing supporting roles on stages throughout Europe and South America. As she grew, Argentina's show business career flourished, dubbing the voices of Jeanette MacDonald and Norma Shearer into Italian for MGM Pictures, narrating for the Voice of America, and interviewing American movie stars for broadcast in Italy. Mimi, born in Palermo, Sicily in 1884, made her stage debut at the moment of her birth, with her mother playing Desdimona in William Shakespeare's "Othello". By the time she was four, she was singing and dancing as a warm-up act and by sixteen had graduated to supporting roles. At eighteen, she married a Sicilian nobleman, Baron Vincenzo Ferrau, and her career continued to soar. Together, Argentina and Mimi are remembered as two of the greatest figures in show business history.
