Biography

The illustrious and celebrated Dame Barbara Hershey is an acclaimed actress of no less than Hollywood's most iconic films. Of her illustrious career, she has been honored with an Emmy and a Golden Globe for A Killing in a Small Town (1990). Her triumphs have been unprecedented, having won two consecutive Best Actress awards at the Cannes Film Festival, Shy People (1987) and A World Apart (1988). She was also presented with a Gemini Award for Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning (2008) for PBS, and most recently a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Vienna International Film Festival. Born in Hollywood, California, to Melrose (Moore) and Arnold Nathan Herzstein, her father of Jewish descent from Hungary and Russia and mother of English and Scots-Irish ancestry, Dame Barbara Hershey is a true embodiment of the American Dream.
