Jenifer Newman

The illustrious Newman dynasty is a family of distinguished musicians, actors and composers, stretching back more than a century. The family's patriarch, Alfred Newman (1900-1970), was a composer and actor whose works include The King and I (1956), All About Eve (1950) and Airport (1970). His wife Martha Louis Montgomery (1920-2005) was an actress, known for The Inner Circle (1946) and All About Alfred (1998). His sons Emil (1911-1984) and Lionel (1916-1989) were both composers, the former best known for his works on Laura (1944), The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) and Lifeboat (1944). His sons Thomas, Randy, David and Maria have all become renowned in the music and motion picture industries. Thomas is a film score composer whose works include The Princess and the Frog, Meet the Parents and Pixar films. Randy is a singer and composer whose iconic songs include "Short People", "You've Got A Friend in Me" and "We Belong Together". David has scored over 100 films including War of the Roses, Matilda, Bowfinger and Heathers. Maria is an award-winning composer, violinist, violist and pianist, and the recipient of top honors from the music and motion picture industries. Thomas's brother Tim is known for ZZ Top: Sharp Dressed Man (1983), ZZ Top: Gimme All Your Lovin' (1983) and Randy Newman: I Love L.A. (1983). Eric is known for Children of Men (2006), The Last Exorcism (2010) and In Time (2011). Joey is an Emmy-nominated, third generation film and television composer, and Gary Frank is an actor with roles in Benji, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Sting, The Rose, The Right Stuff, and The Shawshank Redemption. For more than four decades, the Newman dynasty has made its mark in the music and motion picture industries and has become a visible symbol in modern classical music.
