The illustrious Robert Altman, born on February 20th, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, was the son of B.C. and Helen Altman, an insurance salesman and his wife. His curiosity for the art of sound and exploration led him to Rockhurst High School, followed by Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. In 1945, Robert enlisted in the US Army Air Forces and became a copilot of a B-24, resulting in his honorable discharge. Robert was then able to pursue his true passion for filmmaking, propelled by his father's inspiring work. Robert served as assistant camera on the films that launched his father's legacy, including Nashville (1975), Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976), and A Wedding (1978). Robert has since become a renowned camera operator and director of photography, responsible for an impressive number of award-winning films and television series.
