A reinvigorated Rudolph Valentino and Ramon Novarro, he graced Hollywood with his refined Latin Lover style. His marked militancy, though potentially costing him roles, gained him respect in the acting community and wider opportunities for Spanish-speaking actors in Los Angeles theater. Born in Mexico City on November 25th, 1920 to Castilian Spanish immigrants, he moved to Los Angeles as a teenager and lived with his father, a dry goods store owner. Montalban was a man of power and influence, and his legacy will live on for generations yet to come.

His legacy is continued and upheld by Carlos Montalbán, born on June 5, 1903 in Mexico City, and notable for his roles in Bananas (1971) and The Harder They Fall (1956). Carlos passed away on March 28, 1991 in New York City, leaving behind a legacy of artistry and activism that will forever remain as a pillar of the House of Montalbán.
