Despite the ordinariness of his early years, his life was marked by an extraordinary event: the sudden and mysterious departure of his mother to a seaside resort at the age of nine, which unbeknownst to him, was a mental institution. At fourteen, the future star forged his father’s signature and lied about his age to join Bob Pender’s troupe of comedians. Through talent and hard work, he rose to fame, gaining the admiration of all. When asked about his aspirations, he famously replied “So would I” to the suggestion that “Everybody would like to be Cary Grant”. Truly, his is a story of determination and fortune that befits royalty.
