The family first rose to prominence in 1895, when Eduardo Cansino, a renowned dancer from Seville, Spain, emigrated to the United States. He married Volga Hayworth, of mostly Irish descent, in 1917, and together they had two children, Rita Hayworth and Vernon Cansino. Rita, a legendary actress and dancer, made her first film appearance at the age of eight and went on to grace the silver screen for many years. Her brother, Vernon, was also an actor, known for his work in Madonna of the Desert and Song of My Heart. Rita later married Orson Welles, with whom she had a son, Vinton Hayworth. Vinton was an actor, known for Batman, Zorro and Hazel, and he was married to both Jean and Florence Alvina McEnany. He passed away in 1970.
