Family Tree

The illustrious Susskind and Lear families have been a cornerstone of the American entertainment, political, and philanthropic landscapes for generations. David Susskind, born December 19, 1920 in New York City, left this world with a legacy of television and film production and writing, having been behind the iconic Eleanor and Franklin (1976), Ages of Man (1966), and The DuPont Show of the Month (1957). His legacy continues in the works of his son Norman, a 95-year old television and film producer, political and social activist, and philanthropist. Norman's re-imagined Cuban-American version of One Day at a Time was recently among the Top Ten New Shows of 2017, and is now streaming on Netflix. His weekly podcast, All of the Above with Norman Lear, is available on PodcastOne. Norman is also an executive producer on the award-winning Epix docuseries America Divided. Meanwhile, his son Ben is making a name for himself with They Call Us Monsters (2016) and Bad for the Boats (2017). This is a family steeped in success, and their legacy looks to continue in the years to come.
